Moorthorpe - former Empire Cinema

On Barnsley Road. Built 1912, the Empire Theatre was converted to a cinema in 1919. It became a bingo hall in 1968, finally closing for good in 2003. Now converted to housing. See http://archaeology.wyjs.org.uk/documents/archaeology/newsletters/News20pag8.pdf for more details.
