View eastward on Platform 3, towards Didcot, Reading and Paddington: ex-GWR original (1841) London - Bristol main line. Swindon soon became a major junction and the centre of operations of the GWR, but the station was rebuilt in 1973 and enlarged in 2003 so the main building on the Up side is all that remains of the original structure.
