Viewed in February 2013, the sign at the edge of High Street doesn't show a year, but Blakeney wasn't a recent winner. The Bledisloe Cup Best Kept Village competition had been scrapped in 2009 following a decision made at an executive committee meeting of the Gloucestershire branch of the Campaign to Protect Rural England. Falling numbers of entries, increasing costs and difficulties in getting villages to enter all contributed to the decision.
