When I lived in Fort William in 1970-1971, the former Palace Hotel was run by Scottish Pulp and Paper Mills as a residence for single staff and for visitors. My room was one of the ones on the third or fourth floor on the right. Home from home it was not; I will refrain from detailed comment. Mairi MacIntyre's shop at ground level was a really good up-market shop selling quality tweeds, tartan and knitwear. It seems now that the upper floors are "Ossian's Rooms" (rated on Trip Advisor as No 18 of 20 in Fort William with a score of 51% - but it's cheap) and Mairi MacIntyre's is now yet another outlet of the ubiquitous Edinburgh Woollen Mill with the same goods as every other EWM shop.
