This part of Shrewsbury Sixth Form College, on the east bank of the River Severn at the edge of English Bridge, was previously Wakeman School and Arts College which closed down in 2013. The decision was made by Shropshire Council in 2011 because of what it termed unsustainable pupil numbers. There were only 18 students at closure. The original name of the building is engraved over the entrance : SHREWSBURY TECHNICAL COLLEGE.
