The pub juts out from the general building line, and dates from the "late C17 or earlier" http://list.english-heritage.org.uk/resultsingle.aspx?uid=1208551&searchtype=mapsearch . The small blackboard carries the message: "Sun is out beer garden is open". Unless a different weather system is operating behind the pub, the first statement is incorrect, although it might have been true earlier in the day.
