Former Port of London Authority building, Charterhouse Street

Built in 1914. Underneath this building today (and the old Cold Store building next door) lie a combined heat and power plant. Electricity is generated and the waste heat from the generator is used to heat nearby buildings. It has been in operation since 1993.
