As we walked along the lane at least two kites flew overhead quite low and appeared to be having an altercation with some crows. Red kites were initially released at Grizedale Forest in 2010 with further releases following in the next two years http://visitlakelandforests.co.uk/index.php/wildlife/115-grizedale-red-kite-introduction-programme This is the first time we have seen them locally, apart from a recent very brief sighting from the car driving towards Broughton-in-Furness, and despite walking often in their release area!
