The inn was a former timber framed building refaced in the C18 with painted brick. It was at one time the George & Dragon, a coaching inn, and a stop-over for the 'Emerald' coach on the coastal route from Lymington to Poole. Adjoining it is no. 76 High Street, an early C19 three storey corner building. Both are listed Grade II. https://historicengland.org.uk/listing/the-list/list-entry/1304270 https://historicengland.org.uk/listing/the-list/list-entry/1110123
