One of many cul de sacs on Plains Estate to be named after famous sportspersons, in this case Tony Roche, an Australian tennis player who won twelve Grand Slam men's doubles titles in the 1960s and 1970s. His partner for all twelve was John Newcombe; this photograph was taken from Newcombe Drive.
