The building in the background is number 5 magazine of the Purfleet gunpowder store built around 1770. It is now a military museum see http://www.purfleet-heritage.com/index.html The lump of metal in the foreground is the rocket nozzle from a V2 rocket unearthed while building the A13 between Wennington and Aveley in 1997. 2013 update the V2 rocket engine has now been loaned to the Lashenden Air Museum in Kent http://www.lashendenairwarfaremuseum.co.uk/index.html
