A Hull Trains express approaches at speed on its journey from Kings Cross. The line is in a cutting at this point, running halfway up the west side of the Pymmes Brook valley. The scaffolding on the left encloses the station ticket office, which is currently being renovated. The bridge in the distance carries a footpath between Alverstone Avenue and Oakleigh Park South. Beyond the bridge are the triple bores of the tunnel under Russell Lane.
