The Bishop Street footbridge over Ringway St Nicholas had a fine view of the spires of St Michael's and Holy Trinity only slightly marred by the Civic Centre 4 office block jamming itself between them. On the left is the white bulk of the Coventry Theatre and the residential tower block for the then Lanchester Polytechnic (now Coventry University). Between the theatre and the spires is the side wall of Coventry Cathedral. In the intervening years a Royal Mail sorting office was built to the left and the bridge was altered, although it stands in more or less the same place.
