Roman Catholic Training College, No.36B Queen's Road, built 1908-09, by Arthur Lowther, Arts & Crafts style. By 1913, St Vincent de Paul Home for Boys. By 1994, an old people's home, St Vincent's Hotel. Planning Application approved 14 March 2007 for alterations to provide flats, now St Vincent's Court. Foundation stone: 'A M D G. This foundation stone was laid June 21st 1908 by the Right Revd. Richard Lacy. D.D. Bishop of Middlesbrough'. Grade II Listed Building http://www.britishlistedbuildings.co.uk/en-387762-st-vincents-hotel- AMDG, ad majorem Dei gloriamis, the Latin motto of the Society of Jesus, a religious order within the auspices of the Catholic Church known better by their informal name, the Jesuits. The motto is translated into English as 'For the greater glory of God'. DD, Divinitatis Doctor, in Latin; 'Doctor of Divinity', in English.
