The canal has been diverted under the M42 and this is the beginning of the 'amputated arm'. Originally it was navigable and the wooden bridge carried the towpath. The bridge is now obviously rotten and the towpath crosses over on a 'dam' at ground level. the bridge is now securely fenced off. The bridge is No. 64A and the M42 bridge is No. 64B.
