Opened in 1873 by the Caledonian Railway on the line from Rutherglen to Motherwell, also the junction for Cathcart. It replaced an earlier station of 1849 vintage some 600m further east. View west towards Cambuslang and Rutherglen, also Kirkhill and Cathcart. The old signal-box on the right was disused at this time.
