Former Tramway Generating Station, Kelham Island, Sheffield

Built for Sheffield Corporation Tramways in 1899 and in operation until the 1930s. Grade II listed. It was converted to the Kelham Island Industrial Museum in 1982 to "house the objects, pictures and archive material representing Sheffield's industrial story". Inside is an interesting quote from Steve Tagg of Sheffield Forgemasters International: "In 1964, between the English Steel Corporation and Firth Brown there was a total of 46,000 employees making 2.8 million tons per annum. We've now [undated] got 750 people and we make something over 2.9 million tons".
