The grandest of the Georgian houses surrounding the cathedral, even if the Victorian plate glass mars the proportions. Built 1786. Five bays with the central three projecting slightly under a pediment. Grade II listed. The pediment contains a tablet commemorating the building's original purpose as the Girls' Charity School. "Funded by voluntary subscriptions to educate sixty poor girls between the ages of eight and sixteen and train them for domestic service". Now offices. The boys' school is opposite: Image
