Headquarters of the Welsh Books Council at the top of Heol-y-Bryn. It was originally built as a private house for the composer David Jenkins, who from 1893 onwards was a lecturer and later professor at Aberystwyth University, and who died in 1915. In 1936 the house became the Roman Catholic theological college, St Mary's College, during which time it was considerably extended. It was further extended on becoming the headquarters of the Welsh Books Council following the closure of the college in 1970.
