The site was first occupied by the airship factory of William Beardmore & Co which operated from 1916 to 1922. The site was later acquired by India Tyres and the present category A-listed art deco building constructed 1929-30. Architects Wallis, Gilbert & partners. It was later extended c1955. Following closure in 1981, the office block remained derelict for many years. Thankfully, the building was saved, renovated, extended and finally completed in 2003. It is now owned by the Sword Group. The roof extension incorporates a scale replica of a section of the R34 airship.
