The level of water in Black Water is controlled by a sluice gate that connects it to the Beaulieu River. The reeds in the foreground have been cut to allow a clear line of sight from the NFOC birdwatching hide (off to the right). In the distance are masts of boats on the Beaulieu River. In the far distance: the chimney on the right is at Fawley Power station, the chimneys on the left are at the Fawley Oil Refinery.
