Viaduct over the Taff

The nineteenth century railway viaduct dominates this section of the valley. The river is confined to a narrow channel between rock slabs in these low flow conditions. The rocks themselves are a Carboniferous age sandstone unit within the Bishopston Mudstones Formation (formerly 'Middle Shales') of the Marros Group (formerly 'Millstone Grit Series')
