The bridge crosses Wicken Water, a tributary which joins the eastern branch of the Cam at Newport. The church of St Mary the Virgin, externally largely as restored in 1855, is Grade II* listed: see http://www.britishlistedbuildings.co.uk/en-121383-church-of-st-mary-the-virgin-arkesden-es
