The spire of St Mary Redcliffe peeps over the top of these gables; the late C19 terrace of four is listed http://list.english-heritage.org.uk/resultsingle.aspx?uid=1372319&searchtype=mapsearch . Samuel Plimsoll, inventor of the Plimsoll Line, was born in the left-hand house.
