One side of the lake, near to the park entrance, borders open parkland http://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/641455 . A path gives access to the far side which is heavily wooded and from where this picture was taken. The lake was constructed during landscaping of the park in the late 18th century and was known as The Great Pool.
