In her will of 1894, Mary Jane Cross bequeathed £1500 for the relief of poor residents of Much and Little Woolton suffering from accidents and non-infectious diseases. The Trustees decided to purchase her house in Allerton Road for a Nurses Home in connection with the Convalescent Home.
