Thornton Heath's status as a destination for immigrants to the UK means that its demography has changed enormously since the Second World War, and continues to do so. The businesses that can survive a change like this are the ones that embrace it: here, Robert's Fishmongers displays why it is still in business when many wet fishmongers' shops have closed, by sporting a sign advertising Polish products; the far side (Image) boasts of halal products.
