The west entrance, built in 1837-41 by the prolific Brunel. It has a degree of architectural pretension. The listing records that between 1,200 and 4,000 unrecorded men laboured to build the longest tunnel (3km) on the Great Western Railway. Grade II* listed. Closer view: Image
