This shows the top gates and surroundings of Shiplake Lock. The village of Shiplake and its attractive riverside can be conveniently visited by train, as the station is only a few minutes walk from the towpath, which can then be followed round to the lock, returning to the station through the village, all in all only about two miles right the way round.
