The village museum with the Grade II-listed ruins of Bradshaw Hall behind it. Opposite the entrance to the museum are a block of public conveniences and a substantial car park for the village, that lies ahead. Hawkhill Road continues behind the photographer within a mile or so becomes Edge Road, off which the Eyam YHA hostel is to be found. When George Bradshawe, of Bradshawe Hall died on 25 June 1646, leaving a wife and five children, his widow continued to live in the hall. It is reported however that she fled Eyam as soon as the plague appeared in the village and never returned. She is buried in Treeton Church in liberty of Hallamshire, i.e. in what is now South Yorkshire.
