Robinwood Mill - transformer house of 1914

This was a steam powered cotton spinning mill of the mid-late 1830s to designs by William Fairbairn. The mill as built was U shaped with a pediment in the centre portion and of 6 storeys with non-fireproof construction, except over the integral engine and boiler house. Sadly, the wing housing the engine and boiler house has gone and a large chunk of the central, pedimented section has also been lost. The mill was an early adopter of electric drives with a 1914 transformer station that still survives and an external motor drive tower, that does not survive. I am pleased that at least some of this survives but wish I had seen it earlier.
