The photograph was taken around 1960. It shows the two properties in this valley, both owned then as now by the Crown Estates. The Woodland behind was all deciduous trees, this forest was cut down soon after the picture was taken and replanted with softwood and mainly Beech trees. The softwood is now being extracted leaving behind the Beech.
