The historic 6” map on the OSI website http://www.osi.ie/Home.aspx shows two flax mills in Unicarval townland – one each on the north and south of what is now the Unicarval Road Image The one on the northern side seems to have vanished (based on what can be seen from a public place). This chimney is on the southern side. Not listed but mentioned http://www.doeni.gov.uk/niea/built/buildview?id=10563&js=true as possibly dating from around 1890 by which time the mill had been in existence for, at least, 60 years. There is little or no remains (again from what can be seen from a public place) of the mill served by it.
