This wall between the North Terrace car park and the YMCA contains a small fragment of the Newborough defences. The Newborough defences were improved by Richard III by replacing what was probably a palisade by a stone wall. Archaeological excavations by the local archaeological society have shown that the stone work here is part of that wall; the only visibly surviving fragment.
