The northern end (i.e. the non cul-de-sac end) of the City Road Canal Basin seen here from Graham Street Gardens. It was in 1819 that the nearby Islington Tunnel was completed and a further (a fourth) Act of Parliament authorised the building of this branch of the Regent's Park canal to City Road. This park stands as a monument to the moral strength of the nearby community who resisted its closure and relocation when it was previously considered as suitable as a site for private residences.
