Opened in 1860 by the Salisbury and Yeovil Railway, which was worked by the London & South Western Railway from the outset, this station closed in 1966. It reopened in 1983. View south west towards Sherborne and Yeovil Junction. It has the bizarre arrangement of being single track at this point, with the platform now in use being the previous westbound platform extended outwards. Strangely, the railway then becomes double track again just beyond the end of the station! The unused former eastbound platform used to have two sides, with a bay platform (far right) for Somerset and Dorset trains to call on their journey. They then had to reverse back out to regain their line!
