There is a history to this roundabout, which has only appeared in recent years. Before that there was a stop sign at the end of this road. Traffic on the B1203 had right of way, but there was only a limited view up the road. One day around 1998, a van crossed, got it wrong, and was hit by a vehicle on the B1203. The passenger in the van was killed. The roundabout was built soon after. This year (2013) there was another fatal accident on this stretch of the A18, and the speed limit has now been lowered to 50mph.
