Originally a woodland purhased with the rest of the park in 1883 it was laid out as a garden in 1935 and inspired by the Chinese story of the willow pattern. The park suffered a period of neglect in the 1990s when the empty pond became a makeshift skateboard ramp but is gradually returning to its former glory.
