This building is officially known as the Shore Road Pumping Station and was built in the 1870s to pump out water from the Mersey Railway tunnel. The centrepiece is a huge steam engine known as the 'Giant Grasshopper'. It is now run by electricity, for show. It is open to the public at weekends. Behind the front wall is a 1901 street scene.
