The station no longer exists - the remains of the railway abutment can be seen on the left. When I was little, my mother used to say in sad regret of the closures: "It's not a hundred years since men died building those lines", which sentiment went right over my head. At my now advanced age, I see what she meant, and understand what a huge resource was lost.
