Two terraces of housing might seem unusual in such a rural location as upper Rosedale in the North Yorks Moors National Park but the valley was once the location of much industrial activity - the mining of ironstone followed by its on-site processing and then its transportation to Teesside. Doubtless, these terraces provided homes for the workers in those industries.
