This late August 2013 view into the Walters demolition site shows that the multi-storey County Hall http://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/2599278 is no more. It was condemned because concrete cancer allowed rain to penetrate the cladding, rusting steel supports. It would have cost £30 million to repair the building. A notice on a nearby lamppost shows that Monmouthshire County Council is applying to Torfaen County Borough Council for planning permission for an outline application for residential development up to a maximum of 220 dwellings on this site.
