The Youth Hostel Association of Northern Ireland opened in this trim cottage in the village of Ballyvoy in 1934; hostellers stayed in the left of the premises and (for a time at least) the warden kept an eye on things from the adjoining house. The hostel had a long life, finally closing in 1964 when a larger house at Ballycastle was brought into use. Please contact if you have any tales to tell of old hostels like this.
