The former school buildings fill the east side of High Green. The school was established as an agricultural boarding school in 1841 with 80 boarders rising to 300 boarders in the 1960s. At the time of closure in 1997 numbers had dropped to 200 and the school fell upon hard times. Bought by Wimpey the buildings have been converted to apartments with an exclusive development of houses in the grounds beside the River Leven.
