Image: © David Hillas Taken: 25 Oct 1969

This photo, taken in October 1969, shows Leyland Atlantean 9 (HHF 9) with Metro-Cammell 77-seater bodywork dating from 1960 about to leave Seacombe Ferry Bus Station on route 1 to New Brighton. This vehicle was one of thirty Leyland Atlanteans delivered to Wallasey Corporation between 1958 and 1961. Their Metro-Cammell bodywork can be recognised by the two-piece windscreen and the rectangular air-vent on the upper front dome. A Leyland Titan with Metro-Cammell 56-seater bodywork can be seen in the distance to the left of the photo. The buses of Wallasey Corporation were transferred to the Merseyside Passenger Transport Executive on the 1st December 1969. Arriva North West now operate most of the bus services in the Wallasey area.
