Albion House dates from about 1789. It was the holiday home of the Duke and Duchess of Kent and Princess Victoria in September 1835 and it was while she was staying there that she developed typhoid fever http://www.ramsgate-society.org.uk/your-ramsgate/historic-buildings-3.php Plans have been submitted to transform Albion House into a boutique hotel more than two years after plans were first revealed. The building has been vacant since Ramsgate Town Council left the site in 2010 http://www.thisiskent.co.uk/New-plans-boutique-hotel-Ramsgate-s-historic/story-18686949-detail/story.html#axzz2c4BaAAxW Planning permission has been granted by Thanet District Council under application number F/TH/13/0178 for “refurbishment and alterations to Albion House as plans 077_[PL]_001-019 and schedule of works. New entrance doors and windows to eastern elevations, new windows to front and rear elevations and new railings. Pam Fray’s Image shows how beautifully the building has been restored.
