Sky, Tree, Signpost, Hedge, mown verge, Road. This is the archetypal landscape view for much of Eastern England, especially now local authorities do not 'cap' the signpost with their crest or badge to give some individuality. At one time Lincolnshire would have mown the verge all the way back to the hedge, but this two-tier style of trimming is popular now, providing a more varied wildlife habitat as well as saving money.
