Built as a cinema, from 1948-63 the startlingly purple building on the corner of Goldsmith Street was the home of Nottingham Playhouse. At that time the pub to the right was The Spread Eagle - it has had a number of names since. Alan Murray-Rust's Image] shows a former colour scheme, in May 2008.
