Town centre pub in Russell Street, in the building that was previously Stroud's main post office, which is now next door. http://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/3550006 The pub, the street (and also nearby John Street) are named after Lord John Russell. He was a Liberal Member of Parliament for Stroud from 1835 to 1841. He had earlier been one of the principal leaders of the movement which led to the Great Reform Act of 1832. He later served two terms as Prime Minister of the UK.
