East Boldre is on the edge of the open Forest and commoners cattle are free to wander the area - including the roads (where they have right of way). These cows are just up the road from the Turfcutters Arms (seen in the background), possibly sheltering from the rain that has just started. The allotments are on the other side of the hedge to the right.
